About

I am a writer, journalist and documentary producer with over a decade’s experience producing films focused on marginalised communities for the BBC and Channel 4.

I now reside between London and Amsterdam. In addition to writing and filmmaking, I also support individuals detained in the UK under immigration powers. I also serve on the policy council of a Liberty - a UK based human rights organisation.

However, most of my time is spent playing with Lego or pretending to be Buzz Lightyear at the request of my son ‘M’.

‘M’ is a precious, cheeky little being who lights up my life and brings me unprecedented joy, but simultaneously his arrival totally floored me - taking with it the person I used to be.

Motherhood, though wonderful, hilarious and incredibly rewarding for the most part, has proved to be equally terrifying, alienating and (dare I say it) at times awful. Writing ‘motherhood’ and ‘awful’ together in a sentence is in itself terrifying - a truth I’ve been afraid to verbalise for the past few years.

En Route began as an attempt to rediscover my brain, my body, my self and my purpose beyond motherhood - and to come to terms with the world as I now see it.
